Masterpieces of the Moken Art Collective

One of a kind ocean-based art, handmade by the Moken peoples of the Andaman Sea in Thailand.
In 2024 and 2025, the Moken community of Koh Surin initiated a collaboration with American artists Duncan and Melany Berry to make place-based art. This nature-based art form honors Moken heritage as an indigenous people of the sea. 100% of proceeds go directly to the artists and the purchase of materials.
A message from master artist Ngui Klathalae:
We are story-tellers and this art form is a natural expression of our everyday experiences. As a sea-faring people we have been known for living on our boats, called “Kabang”, during the dry season and seeking shelter on land during the monsoon, though our lives are rapidly changing. Because our ancestral home is now a national park, this art keeps our connection to the sea, and allows us to support our families.”
